Parents invited to support meeting

GREENFIELD – A parent support training session is coming up for parents of children with special needs.

IN*SOURCE, a nonprofit organization in Indiana, will host a meeting titled “Communicating with Schools: Collaborative Strategies for Positive Outcomes.” The event is at 10 a.m. Aug. 30 at the main branch of the Hancock County Public Library, 900 W. McKenzie Road, Greenfield. Special education liaison Angela Bear will provide ideas to build relationships between parents and schools through verbal and nonverbal communication. Harris earns special education degree

GREENFIELD – Chelsie Harris of Greenfield recently received a Master of Education degree in special education.

She earned the degree from the University of Alaska Fairbanks; commencement was May 6.

School foundation planning gala event

GREENFIELD – The Greenfield Central School Foundation is hosting its annual Red Letter Gala Sept. 30 and sponsorship opportunities are available.

Sponsorship levels range from $250 to $6,000 and must be received by Sept. 3 for inclusion in the program.

EHHS reunion coming up

CHARLOTTESVILLE – The Eastern Hancock High School Class of 1970 is having a 50-plus reunion this fall.

FORTVILLE – The Mt. Vernon High School Class of 1973 is planning a 50-year celebration.

Mattress fundraiser coming up at GCHS

GREENFIELD – Greenfield-Central High School’s band and guard program will host its eighth annual mattress fundraiser Aug. 27.

The event, through Custom Fundraising Solutions, will be from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. in the school’s band room. There will be 30 mattress styles on display; name-brand mattresses are available for up to 50% retail value with proceeds benefiting the music program. Mattresses are available two to three weeks after the fundraiser and delivery is available.

CFS first introduced mattress fundraising in Ohio in 2005. The company now has nearly 100 locations and works with 3,000 schools nationwide. To date, the company has given back over $50 million to school programs, according to a press release. For more information, visit bit.ly/beds4greenfield23.
