Pool party for dogs this weekend

GREENFIELD – P.A.W.S. Hancock County will host its annual pool party for dogs and their families from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 12.

The event is at the Kathy Dowling Aquatic Center in Riley Park. Cost is $15 for one adult and one dog; $3 for each additional adult or dog, with a maximum of $25. Dogs must have proof of current rabies, bordetella and distemper vaccinations. Visit facebook.com/PAWSHancock for updates.

Run to benefit Boys and Girls Club

GREENFIELD – The Boys and Girls Club of Hancock County a benefit event this Saturday to raise money for the organization.

The Great Futures Run and Walk 5K begins at 8 a.m. Aug. 12. Early bird registration for the 5K is $40, while participant registration is $50. Sponsorship levels start at $100.

The event will also feature a back-to-schol bash from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. with carnival games, free haircuts, immunizations from the Hancock County Health Department and more.

Children’s theater auditions coming up

GREENFIELD – Auditions are coming up for “The Snow White Variety Show” presented by KidsPlay Inc. children’s theater.

Auditions are 6-8:30 p.m. Aug. 29 for returning KidsPlay members, and 6-8:30 p.m. Aug. 31 for new auditioners. Parts are available for up to 48 speaking roles and 12 dancers. New auditioners should come prepared with an audition monologue of one minute or less. Rehearsals will be from 6-8:30 pm. Tuesdays and Thursdays; performance dates are Nov. 10-12. Library to host programs for children

GREENFIELD – Several programs are coming up for children at the Hancock County Public Library.

“Something Fishy” is Aug. 22 in New Palestine with fish crafts and snacks. A chemistry program with experiments is Aug. 23 in Greenfield. A “Back to Hogwarts” event is set for Aug. 28 with Harry Potter-themed games and crafts. Registration is required for events at hcplibrary.org.

Bentley’s Buddies reading dogs will be at the Sugar Creek branch in New Palestine at 1:30 p.m. Aug. 27.
