Karla Jean (Conaway) Whisenand, age 60, of Greenfield, passed away Saturday, July 22nd, 2023, at her home. She was born in Lebanon, Indiana on May 28th, 1963, to Richard and Sherry (Terry) Conaway. She graduated from Brebeuf Prepatory in 1981. Mrs. Whisenand attended Butler University before she received her Elementary Education degree from UMSL in 1996. She then received her Master of Education from Southwest Baptist University in 2004. She married the love of her life, Jon Albert Whisenand, on February 1st, 2015.

She worked as a flight attendant for TWA where she served as a French speaker and trainer. She then worked for Chesterfield Elementary, Kenwood Station Elementary, and Klondike Elementary for 11 years before retiring in 2011. Karla was also the executive director for LOVE INC, in Greenfield, Indiana for 3 years before her retirement in 2020. Mrs. Whisenand was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, a Sunday School and VBS teacher, and was a Survivors Teaching Students member, where she would teach physicians and do presentations at universities on how to look for ovarian cancer symptoms.

She is survived by her loving husband, Jon Whisenand of Greenfield; sons, Christian and Rex Wallace both of Louisville; sister, Karen Meineke; numerous cousins, aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews; and Sherman, her beloved dog. She was preceded in death by her parents listed above.

Memorial visitation will be held on Saturday, July 29th, 2023, from 11:00am until 1:00pm at Calvary Baptist Church, 1450 W. Main St, Greenfield, IN 46140. A memorial service will be held immediately following the visitation at the church. Pastor Roger Kinion will be officiating. Burial will follow at Park Cemetery in Greenfield.
