County’s unemployment rate decreases

HANCOCK COUNTY — The county’s preliminary unemployment rate for June was 3%, down from May’s 3.1% and the same as it was June last year, according to information from the Indiana Department of Workforce Development released Monday.

Indiana’s preliminary jobless rate for June was 3.7%. Nationally, the June unemployment rate was 3.7%.

Howard County had the highest preliminary rate in the state for last month, at 5.8%, while Gibson County had the lowest, at 2.6%. Hancock County’s unemployment rate ranked No. 72 in the state.
