Rachel Johnson, age 90, of Greenfield, Indiana, passed away peacefully July 1, 2023 at her home, with her loving family at her side. She was born October 26, 1932, to the late Ruel Elvis and Bertha (McClendon) Johnson. She graduated from Charlottesville High School. She was married to Ethal Francis Johnson until his passing on December 18, 1987.
Rachel was a loving mother and grandmother. She enjoyed cultivating roses, going to the movies, and completing crossword puzzles. She was a talented seamstress who loved to sew. She enjoyed reading and her favorite color was purple. Rachel also loved the mountains of Tennessee and Mexican cuisine. Rachel cleaned houses for others for many years. She also worked for Western Electric for many years as an assembler before her retirement.
She is survived by her children, Jeff (Penny) Johnson, and Debbie (Don) Holden; grandchildren, Cory Johnson, Carrie (Travis) Tincher, Heather (Chris) Forsberg, and Jennifer (Robbie) Thomas; great-grandchildren, Matt, Alex, Kobie, Shelby, Brayden, Robert, Emma, and Elie; great-great-grandchildren, Addie, Everleigh, Ella, and Jace; sisters, Doris Masters, Edna (Charles) Ryan, and Sue Johnson; brothers, Randall (Susie) Johnson and Jimmie Johnson; and sister-in-law, Freida Johnson.
Rachel is preceded in death by her parents, Ruel and Bertha Johnson; husband, Ethal Francis Johnson; son, Randy Johnson; daughter, Donna Johnson; siblings: Lowell Johnson, Bub Johnson, Betty (Bill) Bogus, Lewis (Loretta) Johnson, Bobby (Darlus) Johnson, and Irene Johnson; and brothers-in-law, Jerry Masters and Alson Johnson.
Visitation for family and friends will be held Thursday, July 6, 2023, from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at Stillinger Family Funeral Home – Pasco Chapel, 1780 West Main Street, Greenfield, Indiana, 46140.
