School supply giveaway at upcoming event

GREENFIELD – Hancock 4 Kids annual backpack and school supply giveaway will be held in conjunction with the Hancock County Community Night event.

Community night is 5-8 p.m. July 19 at the Hancock County Fairgrounds, 620 Apple St., Greenfield. In addition to backpack giveaways, there will be safety demonstrations, informational booths and giveaways from several community organizations. Local orchard to celebrate 95 years

GREENFIELD – Tuttle Orchards is planning its 95th anniversary celebration.

The orchard, 5717 N. 300W., Greenfield, will have a reception, activities, prizes and specials from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. July 15. The event will include an antique tractor display, self-guided family scavenger hunt around the farm, an open house reception with Tuttle family members and history exhibits, wagon rides and more. New summer event coming to McCordsville

MCCORDSVILLE – The town of McCordsville is planning a summer event and is seeking vendors and sponsors.

McCordsville Party in the Park will be 6-9 p.m. Aug. 19 at Town Hall Park, 6280 W. 800N., McCordsville.

Applications are available to all local businesses, organizations, farmers and arts/crafts vendors to reserve a vendor space at $40. Sponsorships for the event start at $150 and include free vendor space.

This is the first year of the event, which will include free activities for the community including face painting, harnessed trampoline jumping, an inflatable obstacle course, ax throwing, a caricature artist and more. Visit mccordsville.org.

Creative Castles camp coming up for children

GREENFIELD – Students ages 6-12 can sign up to create miniature castles including furniture and decor in an art camp hosted by Greenfield Parks and Recreation Art Studio.

“Creative Castles” will be July 10-13. Children ages 6-8 attend from 9-11 a.m. while those 9-12 attend from noon to 3 p.m. at the lower level of the Patricia Elmore Center, 280 N.
