MCCORDSVILLE — Stephanie Crider, clerk-treasurer for the town of McCordsville, recently announced her bid to run for re-election in the November election.

A New Jersey native, Crider studied at Purdue University and has lived in McCordsville since 2011. She previously worked for Mt. Vernon Schools and as utilities billing supervisor for McCordsville for three and a half years, which allowed her to gain knowledge about the town’s finances.

During her time as utilities billing supervisor, she was able to create a utilities payment plan when the pandemic hit, helping residents of McCordsville be able to still pay utility bills.

“This payment plan was very successful and not something every community offered, so we were happy to introduce a plan that would help out the community during this tough time,” Crider said.

Crider was elected by the Republican McCordsville Precinct Committeemen last winter and started January 10th. However, Indiana law requires her to run as an independent in the fall.

Under Indiana Code 36-5-6, Crider will serve as both the town’s clerk and fiscal officer. As clerk-treasurer, Crider will be responsible for taking care of the town’s money, managing the finances and accounts for the town, making investments of the town money, preparing budgets for the council, and more.

“I’m passionate about service in my local community, and I believe I can have a positive impact on the lives of people living in McCordsville,” Crider said.

While working for the town, Crider also helps with the family’s small catering business, called Regular Burgers. Her family consists of her husband Grant and their four children, which will all attend Mt. Vernon Schools in the near future.

Crider says as clerk-treasurer, she will be able to ensure smooth functioning of local government activities while also providing and maintaining essential services to meet the needs of the community.

“I have the necessary qualifications and experience to oversee fiscal operations and I am excited to use my knowledge and skills to promote transparency and ensure fiscal responsibility throughout all of the town’s operations,” Crider said.
