GREENFIELD
Theresa Suzanne Melton, also known as Mamaw Susi, age 78, of Greenfield, passed away Friday, June 9, 2023 at St. Vincent Heart Center. Born on October 28, 1944, in Greenfield, she was the daughter of Jesse L. Beeson and Lavon (Leary) Beeson. She graduated from Hancock Central High School in 1962. Susi married Anthony “Wayne” Melton on June 2, 1963 in Greenfield.
For over 40 years, she was a school bus driver for Greenfield Central Schools. Susi was the cofounder and sponsor of the Hancock County 4-H Llama and Alpaca Club. In her free time, she enjoyed making stained glass, embroidery, quilting, ceramics, painting and fiber crafts. She loved spending time with her family and was Mamaw Susi to many.
Susi is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, Wayne Melton; sons, Jesse (Angie) Melton and Jason (Andi) Melton; grandchildren, Brooke (Troy) Dodd, Brittany (Dusty) Bassett, Delanie Melton and Jaysa Melton; great-grandchildren, Lane Bassett and Valerie Dodd; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jesse and Lavon; brother, Kenneth Beeson; nieces, Rhonda and Tiffany Schaeffer; and nephew, Kyle Gulley.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 13, 2023, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Erlewein Mortuary &Crematory, 1484 W. US Hwy. 40, Greenfield, IN 46140. A funeral service will be held at the mortuary on Wednesday, June 14, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. with viewing 1 hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Park Cemetery in Greenfield.
