Wes Stiller had a pair of home runs and five RBIs to lead New Palestine to a 7-2 victory at Indian Creek Monday.

The Dragons had eight hits off Braves pitching. Wyatt Matheis also had two hits. Nic Deering scored two runs.

Blaine Nunnally threw three innings and picked up the win. Nunnally, Brayden Marrow and Rigg Mahurin combined for a two-hitter with nine strikeouts.

New Palestine improved to 19-9.

Mt. Vernon reaches 20 wins

The Mt. Vernon baseball team got its 20th win of the season at Saturday’s Orval Huffman Invitational.

In two games at Silver Creek, the Marauders opened with a 12-4 victory over Northview, followed by a 10-0 loss to Silver Creek.

Mt. Vernon is 20-7.

Against Northview, DJ Scheumann hit two home runs. He went 3-for-4 at the plate with six RBIs. Russell Weaver had a three-hit game. The Marauders had 16 hits.

Keenan Augustinovicz picked up a complete game victory. He gave up just one earned run, six hits and two walks while striking out two.

Against Silver Creek, the Marauders had four hits, one each from Cam Sullivan, Gavin Johnston, Joseph Wilson and Nathan Criss.

Cougars beat Cubs, Tigers

Greenfield-Central defeated Madison 6-4 Saturday and added a 10-5 victory over Triton Central Monday.

Against the Cubs, Connor Sims led the Cougars with three hits. A.J. Oden and Zander Cobb added two hits apiece, and Kirk Knecht drove in two runs. Pitchers Luke Willett and Andrew Zellers combined for eight strikeouts and scattered eight hits.

Monday’s win over the Tigers gives the Cougars a record of 15-10-2.

Royals swept at Blackford

Eastern Hancock’s baseball team dropped two games at Blackford Saturday.

In the first game of a doubleheader, the Royals lost 5-2. They were defeated in the second game 11-8.

Colton Dishman had two of Eastern Hancock’s six hits in the opener. Hayden Rouse had a double and an RBI. Chase Stewart had a double and run scored.

In game two, Eastern Hancock (10-16) got three RBIs each from Conner Wittgren and CJ Titara.

Rouse had two doubles and an RBI.

Boys golf

Marauders finish 12th

Mt. Vernon’s boys golf team shot a 330 and finished 12th in the 22-team Muncie Central Invitational at The Players Club in Yorktown Saturday.

Nils Erkmanis led Mt. Vernon with a round of 75. Aaron Arkenau followed with a 77. Asher Cotton carded an 86, followed by Brady Pearson (92) and Parker White (93).

Dragons place fifth

The New Palestine boys golf team finished fifth out of 10 teams at Saturday’s Connersville Invitational.

The Dragons shot a 371. Madison won with a 324.

New Palestine was led by Alex Cofer and Joey McPike each with a 91. Landon Beaty followed with a 92. Luke Cofer and Nick Barada each finished with 97s.

Softball

Cougars lose to Wildcats

Greenfield-Central’s softball team lost 7-5 to Lawrence North Friday to finish the regular season with an 18-9 record.

The Cougars will play Pendleton Heights 7 p.m. today at the New Palestine Sectional
