Gleaners food provided to Mt. Vernon families

FORTVILLE – Mt. Vernon families can receive food in an upcoming drive-through pantry.

The Gleaners/MVCSC Food Bank provides a drive-through food pantry twice a month at Mt. Vernon High School, 8112 N. 200 W., Fortville. The pantry is available to Mt. Vernon district residents only.

The upcoming time slot is 4-6 p.m. May 23. Cars should line up at Door 20 for boxes of dry, non-perishable food, meats and more. Visit mvcsc.k12.in.us/community for more information.

Dining event to benefit local animal shelter

GREENFIELD – The Hancock County Humane Society will benefit from an upcoming donation event at a local restaurant.

A dine to donate event will be at Culver’s in Greenfield from 5-8 p.m. May 22. No flier is required; a portion of dine-in, drive through or carry out proceeds benefit the shelter. Culver’s is located at 1846 N. State St., Greenfield.

Book, media collection event this Saturday

GREENFIELD – Used books and media will be accepted from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. this Saturday, May 20 at the Hancock County Public Library.

The Friends of the Library is hosting the collection event. Drop off gently-used books, DVDs, CDs, and video games at the side delivery entrance (northeast corner) of the library, 900 W. McKenzie Road, Greenfield. A volunteer will assist when someone rings the bell. A tax receipt may be requested.

Because of limited space, donations can only be made on specified dates. The Friends of the Library is a non-profit, charitable group of volunteers who raise money through the sale of donated items. Proceeds help fund concerts, children’s performers, and special projects at the library.
