GREENFIELD — A summertime classic car tradition is returning to the corner of McKenzie Road and State Street.
Penny’s Florist will host a car show June 17 in the same tradition that the former restaurant Jim Dandy used to host for years.
Penny’s now operates inside the former restaurant space, and Jenna Silvey said a customer told them about wanting it back.
“They told us about the car shows that would happen on Friday nights and Jim Dandy and we just thought that would be a fun thing to bring back to the community,” Silvey said.
She’s hoping it will become an annual tradition.
The lot at 80 W. McKenzie Road has space for 45 to 50 cars and registration is open now. The event will benefit the Talitha Koum Women’s Recovery House.
Silvey said she heard about the recovery house through her involvement with Leadership Hancock County and wanted to do something to benefit the organization that helps women in transition.
Registration fee is $30 and early registration is preferred. The event will be 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. June 17. There will be awards for the top three cars and a viewers choice award.
On site will be Gocki’s Smoking BBQ food truck, serving breakfast and lunch for purchase.
