MV transfer enrollment windows opening

FORTVILLE – All students who live out-of-district and are interested in attending a Mt. Vernon school for the 2023-24 school year are required to submit an application during two upcoming windows. All current out-of-district and transfer students wanting to return next year must also submit an application.

The first application window is 4 p.m. April 14 through 8 a.m. April 24. The second application window is 4 p.m. May 5 through 8 a.m. May 15. Applications will be live during the application windows at mvcsc.k12.in.us/Transfer23.

Once a student is approved as a Mt. Vernon student, he or she will remain a Mt. Vernon student unless there is a major discipline or attendance issue. Those who live in the Mt. Vernon enrollment area do not need to apply.

EH Bands to have Culvers fundraiser

GREENFIELD – Eastern Hancock Bands will benefit from a Dine to Donate event coming up.

Culvers in Greenfield will donate a portion of proceeds to the band program. The event is 5-8 p.m. April 25 at the restaurant, 1846 N. State St., Greenfield. No flier is needed to support the event.

MV superintendent to meet with community members

MCCORDSVILLE – Meet up with Mt. Vernon Superintendent Dr. Jck Parker in a “traveling talk” event.

Parker will be at Tim’s Bakery in McCordsville at 7 a.m. Thursday, April 20. Parker invites anyone in the community to come for a donut and discussion; no reservation is required. The bakery is located at 6087 W. Broadway St., McCordsville.

Summer camp signups open

NEW PALESTINE – Registration is now open for Southern Hancock’s summer enrichment programs for children.

The school corporation is offering 18 unique learning opportunities in a variety of subjects this June and July. Topics include Camp Invention for science and technology; a Magic Tree House book and building course; a summer space camp; kindergarten readiness; cooking camp; bookmaking and more.
