Why are you running for office?

I’m seeking re-election mostly because I’ve actually enjoyed working for my community the last four years. Everyone on the council brings a unique skill and interest to our group. My focus has been keeping the integrity of our small town feel, historic Main Street, and Old Town footprint. I’ve grown in my understanding of how small town government works and appreciate the relationship with residents, business owners and government to meet the needs of each distinct group. Honestly, I’d like to continue the momentum I’ve established on council.

How are you qualified?

I’ve been a Fortville resident since 2017 and currently serve on the town council

What are the most pressing issues facing Fortville?

Growth and infrastructure. It’s important to maintain our old town district and small town feel. However, growth is essential for small towns like Fortville where taxes help maintain our roads and sidewalks, schools, parks, library, police and fire department.

How can the town responsibly handle the growth it’s experiencing?

Fortunately, the town has had a comprehensive plan in place for many years that was developed by a previous town council, local government and members of the community. That plan has helped the town attract developers and funding for projects that did not impact taxes or the town’s budget. Growth is inevitable and we have spent endless hours discussing and planning how to maintain the historic value Fortville residents expect. Conversations about growth occur a lot at our council meetings and I encourage anyone interested in learning more or wanting to get involved to attend and be part of the conversation.
