Why are you running for office?

I am an effective leader, and I can continue to add value as a member of the McCordsville Town Council. I believe that the most responsive government entity is at the local level where we are governed from within, by our own residents. I was first elected to office in 2012 and I still hold a passion for guiding and implementing the town’s vision. We are at a very critical point in time with the inception of the Town Square development and it is important to maintain leadership continuity as this project continues to evolve over the next 3-5 years.

How are you qualified?

We have positive momentum and great chemistry with our current town council and staff. McCordsville is on the cusp of transforming into an urban destination with the Town Square development. We must retain the principles that have made us fiscally strong while developing new and innovative ideas to meet the challenges of tax cap legislation during these changing fiscal times. Our town leadership is doing just that with proactive use of TIF, abatements, developer partnerships, and state grants. As a promoter in these innovative activities, I am asking that voters retain me as the District 3 McCordsville Town Council representative.

What are the most pressing issues facing McCordsville?

Our town is growing responsibly by adding select commercial, retail and residential developments. This growth not only adds to our population but also adds roads and trails to our inventory, sewer lines, and creates demand for town services. Town services vary between what our staff provides to our residents, park services, traffic improvements and even sewage processing capacity. Our growth is allowing us to build a dedicated police station at the Town Square which frees up space at the current town hall. Having staff and services grow in balanced proportion to development is important to maintain in the next decade.

How can the town responsibly handle the growth it’s experiencing?

I get excited about tangible economic development. I envision a vibrant community that desires and supports that growth. There is no better beacon of vibrancy in our community than thriving businesses, strong downtowns, healthy churches, well-kept homes, and school pride. To keep McCordsville vibrant, we will continue to take an active role in our fire protection, ALS, and BLS emergency response services through our township delivery partners, we will continue to push for tax strategies that encourage businesses to locate here and address the traffic concerns resulting from our continued growth. Expect arterial roadway improvements to continue year-over-year.
