Why are you running for office?

I graduated from Greenfield-Central, as have all my children. My father, great-grandfather and brother have all had long careers in public service to Greenfield and Hancock County. This has given me a lifelong appreciation of what being a part of a community means. Having adult children, the time is right to serve Greenfield. I am passionate about seeing our city and community continue to grow and thrive.

How are you qualified?

In 2016, I knew I wanted to be a part of a local non-profit organization. Working with the Hancock Health Foundation team has allowed me to work with the overarching goals of ensuring our hospital is prepared to care for our friends, family and neighbors in the best way possible. I enjoy making a difference in our community and have the desire to make a greater impact by serving on the Greenfield City Council. Listening intentionally to my constituents to better understand their concerns, as well as actively listening to different ideas and perspectives is how I plan to serve the city of Greenfield.

What are the most pressing issues facing Greenfield?

The most pressing issues facing Greenfield are the growth and protection of our community. A top priority is to grow our public safety teams to meet the increased needs of our city. While there are many positives to the incredible expansion that Greenfield has experienced, it is important that strategic growth maintains the integrity of our schools and our community.

Do you support increasing the general tax rate for the Greenfield Fire Protection Territory? Why or why not?

Any tax rate needs to be scrutinized to make sure the need is justified. In this situation, the need is the increased run load that the fire department encounters daily. Too many times a citizen must wait for an ambulance from another township to respond to their emergency due to already drained and depleted resources. The current proposed tax increase will allow Greenfield to hire additional firefighters and paramedics to expand its capability. Our community has experienced tremendous growth. That growth, along with increased population, needs to be properly protected.
