Greenfield-Central capped off an impressive week of softball with a 14-0 victory over visiting Franklin Friday.

The Cougars went 3-0 on the week and scored 45 runs in their victories over the Grizzly Cubs, Noblesville (12-7) and Westfield (19-12).

Greenfield-Central has scored nine or more runs in seven of eight games and are 6-2 on the season.

On Friday, Olivia Roberts, Katie Muegge and Camille Burelison all hit home runs. Roberts’ long ball was a grand slam.

Josie White was 3-for-4 at the plate and Kristen Wineinger added three RBIs.

In the circle, Madysen Herbert threw the shutout and had seven strikeouts. She gave up just five hits and one walk.

The Cougars begin Hoosier Heritage Conference play Monday with a home game against Delta (0-6, 0-1).

Boys golf

New Pal golfers defeat Knightstown

New Palestine’s boys golf team defeated Knightstown 161-206 Thursday at Hawk’s Tail of Greenfield.

New Pal’s Luke Cofer and Ryker Bland were low medalists, both carded 39s. Alex Cofer followed with a 41. Landon Beaty shot 42.

The Dragons are scheduled to play in the Center Grove Trojan Classic today.

Boys volleyball

Dragons fall in three

New Palestine’s boys volleyball team dropped a 3-0 match at Franklin Central Thursday.

The Dragons lost by set scores of 25-15, 25-19, 25-14.

Will Hahn had 10 kills. Kameron Engle recorded 19 assists. Maguire Gross and Aaron Smith had four digs apiece. Jake Cwikla contributed six kills.

New Palestine is 5-8 on the season and play next, at home, against Heritage Christian Monday.

Girls tennis

Royals lose to Rushville

Eastern Hancock’s girls tennis team lost 4-1 to Rushville Thursday.

The Royals, who had to adjust their lineup due to injuries, got a victory from the No. 1 doubles team of Savanah Hardin and Mikayla Hardy. They were victorious by a 6-0, 6-2 score.

The team is back in action today in the Eastern Hancock Invitational.
