Jake Edwards to speak in Fortville

FORTVILLE — Fortville Church of the Nazarene’s Palm Sunday service will feature a guest speaker, the Rev. Jake Edwards.

The service is set for at 10 a.m. April 2. Children of the church will do a “Palm March.”

Edwards is the son of the Rev. Phil and Sara Edwards; Phil Edwards is SENIOR PASTOR of Fortville Church of the Nazarene.

Jake Edwards is the student pastor of The Summit Church in Lee’s Summit, Missouri.

Praise and worship will be led by the church’s worship leader, Justin Wells, and the Worship Team and Band and the FCN Choir. Following the message a baptismal service will take place as well.

The church is located at 701 S. Maple St. in Fortville.

Ministerial group plans Good Friday service

GREENFIELD — A community Good Friday service is set for noon Friday at Brown’s Chapel Wesleyan Church, 994 N. County Road 600E, Greenfield. Greater Greenfield Ministerial Association plans the annual service, and area ministers take part in leading it.

Community Good Friday service set in Shirley

SHIRLEY — Community Ministerial Alliance, a group of Shirley-area churches, will have a community Good Friday service at 6 p.m. Friday at Shirley Church of the Nazarene, 310 South St.

Mike Jessup, pastor of Christ Fellowship Church, will be the speaker.

The Community Ministerial Alliance has been sponsoring a Good Friday service and a Thanksgiving service for about 20 years, first as a Shirley ministerial alliance but later under its current name.

The group typically rotates locations for these community services. Pastors from the churches involved take turns delivering the sermon. Other churches often offer some other part of the service, such as a song or a poem.

Participating churches are Christ Fellowship Church, Grant City Wesleyan Church, Shirley Friends Church, Shirley Church of the Nazarene, Shirley-Wilkinson Community United Methodist Church, Warrington Church of the Nazarene and Wilkinson Church of Christ. You do not have to attend one of those churches to go to the service.

Christian Laymen to meet

FORTVILLE — Christian Laymen Fellowship will meet at 7:30 a.m. April 8 in the Family Center of Fortville Church of the Nazarene, 701 S. Maple St., Fortville.

All men are invited. Larry Huston is chairman.

Congregations offer egg hunts

These egg hunts and related events are coming up at local churches:

April 1

-Community Easter Egg Hunt, 10 a.m., Mt. Comfort Church, 3179 N. County Road 600W, Greenfield. Event will feature age-group hunts, crafts, door prizes and the Easter story. For more, visit MtComfortChurch.com.

-Eggstravaganza, 10 a.m. to noon, New Palestine Bible Church, 5954 W. 300S., New Palestine; event features games, crafts, an egg hunt, food truck and Easter storytime.

-Community Helicopter Easter Egg Drop, 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., Fortville Nazarene Church, 701 S. Maple St., Fortville. Free event includes six craft locations, Easter Bunny photo booth, food and more. An egg hunt for children 2 years and younger will be at 12:30 p.m., followed by the helicopter dropping eggs at 1 p.m. in the back field. Three age groups will hunt eggs in marked locations, and there will be four identical prize tables outside for children to choose a prize from. Vendors will be on site with food to purchase. April 8

-Easter Egg Hunt, 9 a.m., Park Chapel Christian Church, 1176 E. McKenzie Road, Greenfield; event for ages 1 to sixth grade.

-Easter Egg Hunt, 10 a.m., Heather Hills Baptist Church, 1421 N. German Church Road, Indianapolis (Cumberland).

-Easter Egg Hunt, 10 a.m., Riley Park, 280 Apple St., Greenfield. Free event is hosted by Bradley United Methodist Church; children of all ages can hunt for thousands of Easter eggs filled with candy and small trinkets.

-Easter Egg Hunt, 10 a.m. Trinity Park Church, 207 W. Park Ave., Greenfield.

-Breakfast and Easter Egg Hunt, 10 a.m., Greenfield First Church of the Nazarene, 1980 S. State St., Greenfield. Free event features pictures with the Easter Bunny, crafts, games, prizes and an egg hunt at 11 a.m.

-Easter Egg Hunt, 10 a.m., Brown’s Chapel Wesleyan Church, 994 N. 600 E., Greenfield.

April 9
