GREENFIELD
Donald Fredrick Burnham, of Greenfield, age 83, passed away Monday, March 20, 2023 at home surrounded by family. He was born in New Palestine, IN to Roy Burnham and Mabel (Hill) Burnham.
Don retired from Eli Lilly after 34 years as a Senior Scientific Systems Analyst. He married Barbara (Swartz) Burnham. Their marriage was a love story of 64 years. Don was a 35-year member of Sertoma, and a 12-year Director and past Chairman of NineStar Connect. He served in the Indiana National Guard as a Ranger Airborne, Jungle Expert and Pathfinder.
Don enjoyed “dad” jokes and puns, NASCAR, old Western movies, and most of all, his family. His ability to provide love and support to his family will be forever remembered by them.
Don is survived by his wife, Barbara; daughter, Donna (Tom) Visnack; son, Donald L. Burnham; grandchildren, Thomas L. Visnack, Rachel (Matt) Visnack, Kyle (Alicia) Burnham, Emma (Justin) Burnham; and sister, Valeeta Hommel. Don was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Robert Burnham; and sisters, Vivian McConnell, Lillian Peacock and Alice Shetrone.
A private family gathering was held with burial at Zion Lutheran Cemetery in New Palestine. Arrangements were handled by Erlewein Mortuary &Crematory in Greenfield. Special thanks to Lee, Linda, Lisa, Jasmine and Katherine of Suburban Hospice.
