Bowling fundraiser coming up

GREENFIELD – The community is invited to a “Bowl for Greenfield-Central Students” event.

The Greenfield Central School Foundation is hosting the event from 5:30-9:30 p.m. April 8 at Strike Force Lanes, 1539 W. Main St., Greenfield. There will be face painting, balloon animals, a photo booth and silent auction. The school classroom with the greatest attendance receives a pizza party and the teacher receives a $50 Amazon gift card. Participants are encouraged to bring their Kroger Rewards card to enter for other prizes, and all G-C students will receive a free coupon for a return visit game of bowling.

G-C JAG to host job fair

GREENFIELD – A community job fair will be at Greenfield-Central high School April 4.

The event is open to high school juniors and seniors from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., and then open to the public from 3:30-6 p.m. The fair is hosted by Greenfield Central Jobs for America’s Graduates and will be in the Dellen Automotive Gymnasium of the school, 810 N. Broadway St., Greenfield.

Excellence award nominations accepted

CHARLOTTESVILLE – Nominations are open now for the 2023 David Pfaff Excellence in Education Award.

The Eastern Hancock Education Foundation shows its appreciation for outstanding teachers by publicly recognizing one of them each year with this award. The winner will be presented with a plaque and a check for classroom use.

Free pre-kindergarten program available

INDIANAPOLIS – Lower-income families can receive free pre-kindergarten education through Indiana’s state-sponsored program called On My Way Pre-K.

The Indiana Family and SocialServices Administration recently announced it is accepting applications for the 2023-24 school year. More than 6,200 children were enrolled in 2022 and more are expected to enroll this year.

A child is eligible for On My Way Pre-K if they will be 4 years old by Aug. 1; plan to start kindergarten in the 2024-25 school year; or live in a household with an income below 127% of the federal poverty level. Jaques named to distinction list

NEW PALESTINE – Jaden Jaques of New Palestine was recently named to Bluffton University’s dean’s list of distinction for the fall 2022 term.

The university is located in Bluffton, Ohio. To earn the honor, students must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.75 based on 20 semester hours of courses.

Spring bazaar at G-CHS planned

GREENFIELD – The fourth annual Spring Bazaar at Greenfield-Central High School is planned for 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. April 1. Local vendors will be on site with Easter baskets, Mother’s Day gifts, prom accessories, spring cleaning items and more. The Easter Bunny will be available from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 pm. The event is hosted by the school’s Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) chapter.
