IFCA selects North-South participants

Hancock County players, and assistant coach and a manager were selected to be part of this summer’s Indiana Football Coaches Association’s Murat Shrine North/South All-Star Football Classic.

The 57th annual game will be played Friday, July 14 at 7 p.m. at Decatur Central High School’s Devere Fair Stadium.

Greenfield-Central defensive coordinator Trent Taylor has been named as an assistant coach for the South squad. Addison Echeverria, daughter of Eastern Hancock head coach Pat Echeverria, has been selected as one of the South’s managers.

Three county football players were chosen, including Greenfield-Central center Garrett Taylor and running back Andrew Zellers and New Palestine outside linebacker Blaine Nunnally.

An IFCA all-state selection, Zellers rushed for 1,065 yards (133.1 yards per game) and 15 touchdowns during his senior season.

Nunnally was the co-Hancock County defensive player of the year.

A three-sport standout for the Dragons, including basketball and baseball, Nunnally had 112 tackles, 72 solos, four interceptions, and was the defensive quarterback of a unit that ranked tied for 17th overall in the state and fourth in Class 4A with a defensive scoring average of 11.85 points per game.
