Gary Nile Davis, age 65, of Shelbyville, went home Sunday, March 5, 2023. He was born in Richmond, Indiana on November 7, 1957 to Katherine (McCracken) and Buster Nile Davis. He graduated from Morristown Jr. Sr. High School in 1976. Before retiring in 2021, Gary owned and operated Davis Motorsports in Morristown for many years. He was an avid auto racing enthusiast belonging to many auto racing and Volkswagen Clubs throughout the country. Gary enjoyed all things dirt racing and off-road sports and loved to spend time with his family. He had a heart of gold and helped throughout the community. His giving spirit will be missed by many.
Gary is survived by his daughter, Jaima Davis of Florida; grandchildren, Krystofer Nile, Kaidence, Karima, Hakeem, Zain and Jazmin; great-grandson on the way, Lukas Nile; sisters, Trena (Michael) Keck and Debbie (Jimmie) Seaton both of Morristown; brother, Jerry Davis of Carthage; and many nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Katherine and Buster Davis.
Visitation and funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 11, 2023 at Erlewein Mortuary &Crematory, 1484 W. US Hwy. 40, Greenfield, IN 46140. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. with the funeral service beginning at 2:00 p.m. Burial will follow at Asbury Cemetery in Morristown.
