GREENFIELD
Sherry Lynn (Kingen) Lydon, age 68, of Greenfield, passed away Monday, February 27, 2023 at her home. Born on July 15, 1954, in Greenfield, she was the daughter of Orval Ronald Kingen and Reva Maxine (Kingery) Kingen. She graduated from Greenfield Central High School. On March 19, 1983, Sherry wed William J. “Bill” Lydon in Eden, Indiana.
Sherry didn’t have too many two-legged friends but everything on four legs was her friend, especially horses. She was a barrell racer when she was young and never lost her love for the sport. She had a little sign on her pickup truck that said, “Live life like someone left the gate open”, and to the extent that she could, she did. She would to go several horse barns in the area and clean stalls just to be around the horses. Early in her life she worked for the Wilfong’s, who owned racehorses, and she remembered in vivid detail many stories about that time. The stories were seldom about the people she had met but always about the horses. Her dogs were a close second in her love. She seemed to always have a big dumb one and a little yappy one, but they were very important in her life.
The only thing that ranked above her animals was her family. She was fiercely loyal when it came to her mother and father, her husband and daughter and her brothers. As far as she was concerned, they could do no wrong. She might have been a little critical of them now and then but nobody else could. She will be dearly missed by her family.
Sherry is survived by her son, Robert Lydon; daughter, Erin Lydon; brothers, Allen (LaDonna) Kingen; and sister-in-law, Darlene Miller. She was preceded in death by her parents, Orval and Reva; and brothers, Ronnie and Brian Kingen.
