Ginger to be featured at upcoming herb meeting

GREENFIELD – Learn about the mythology, lore, propagation and uses of ginger in an upcoming event by the Hancock County Herb Society.

Ginger is the 2023 International Herb Association’s Herb of the Year. The event is at 6:30 p.m. March 2 and will include fun facts and history of ginger.

The event will be in Lizabuth Ann’s Kitchen, located behind the J.W. Riley Museum, 250 W. Main St., Greenfield. Light refreshments will be served. Meetings are free and the public is welcome. For more, call 317-326-2274 or visit www.facebook/HerbiesofHancock County.

Agape seeks new volunteers

GREENFIELD – Agape needs “your boots in the barn” and is having a volunteer blitz to find new helpers.

Agape Therapeutic Riding Resources serves people and groups of all ages who have a physical, emotional, social or cognitive disability by partnering with horses to provide therapeutic riding lessons and equine-assisted learning experiences. The Greenfield organization needs a team of volunteers to assist with a variety of tasks ranging from being a horse-handler, sidewalking during classes, and feeding horses, to helping with property maintenance and various other projects.

No prior horse experience is needed; volunteers will be trained. Monthly, weekly or one-time volunteer shifts are used based on the volunteer’s availability.

Brooke’s Place to benefit from trivia event

MCCORDSVILLE – Daniel’s Vineyard in McCordsville will host a family-friendly trivia night fundraiser for Brooke’s Place.

The event, themed “Party like it’s 1999,” will feature trivia from 1999 and the 2000s and will be at 6 p.m. March 30 at the vineyard, 9061 N. 700 W., McCordsville. Tickets are $10 per person; proceeds benefit Brooke’s Place, an Indianapolis nonprofit organization that supports grieving children and families. Healthcare update talk planned

GREENFIELD – Hancock Health President and CEO Steve Long will give an update on the national and local healthcare industry and Hancock Health’s plan for 2023 and beyond in an upcoming event.
