Jazz performance coming to HCPL

GREENFIELD – The Phelps Connection will perform a free jazz concert Tuesday, Feb. 21 at the main branch of the Hancock County Public Library.

The group, a collaboration of Indianapolis musicians, is managed by drummer and entrepreneur Kenny Phelps and lead vocalist Valerie Phelps. Also included are musicians Rob Dixon, Reggie Bishop and Jonathan Wood.

Storytime registration open for March sessions

HANCOCK COUNTY – New storytime sessions at local libraries for babies, toddlers and preschoolers start up the week of March 6, and registration is now open.

The Hancock County Public Library offers storytimes in both Greenfield and New Palestine for ages birth through kindergarten with a caregiver. Summer children’s theater workshop coming up

GREENFIELD – Applications for the 2023 Hancock County Children’s Theater Workshop are now available for all Hancock County students currently in grades 4 through 8.

This year’s production is “Hot Rod: Cruisin’ Back to the 1950s,” a boppin’ musical that returns to the world of malt shops, sock hops and hot rods.

About 100 children with talents in the visual or performing arts will be selected for participation. Children must be available between 8:30-11:30 a.m. each day, Monday through Friday, from June 5 to June 30 in order to be considered for the program. The workshop will be at Greenfield-Central High School. Performance dates are June 30 and July 1.
