Lip sync event this weekend

GREENFIELD – Lip Sync War in Greenfield will feature local “celebrities” competing for audience votes and golden trophies.

The event, hosted by the Upsilon chapter of Psi Iota Xi, will be 7 p.m. Saturday at the H.J. Ricks Centre for the Arts, 122 W. Main St. Performers include Hearts Ablaze Cloggers, Greenfield-Central High School Drama Department, Kathryn and the Vixens and C.L. Ever. Emcees will be Wayne Addison and Stephanie Haines.

Beer, wine, sodas and snacks are available for purchase. Tickets are $12.50-$20 at eventbrite.com. Proceeds benefit the women’s philanthropic sorority that has charitable focuses in speech/hearing, literacy and the arts in Greenfield and the surrounding communities. Local artists to take the stage

GREENFIELD – Several events featuring local artists are coming to the H.J. Ricks Centre for the Arts this month, ranging from bluegrass to Motown to comedy.

“Motown Forever” by Indianapolis soul band Frederic and Ronza will feature participation with local singers and dancers. Hear music from artists such as the Supremes, Stevie Wonder, the Jackson 5, Gladys Knight and the Pips, Smokey Robinson and original music. Local singers will join the choir and dancers from Wilkerson Dance Studio will also take the stage. The show is at 7 p.m. Feb. 24. Tickets are at fredericandronza.com/tickets.

Other local events coming up include a comedy special featuring Hancock County native Stratton Smith, joined by David Brooks, Valerie Nicolette and Bradley Lister. The show is at 8 p.m. Feb. 11; tickets are at eventbrite.com.

Line dancing benefit event planned

GREENFIELD – A new line dancing fundraiser is coming up, with proceeds benefiting all of Hancock County’s public school corporations.

The inaugural Hancock County Boot Scootin’ Boogie is planned for 6 p.m. Feb. 11 at St. Michael Catholic Church in Greenfield.

The $40 ticket includes a hog roast BBQ dinner and free lessons from line dancing instructor Jeff Smilko. The event will include dancing with 915 Kid DJ T-ex and drinks are available at a cash bar.
