Suicide prevention program coming up

GREENFIELD – Healthy365 is offering free suicide prevention training for anyone 18 years and older.

QPR is an emergency response to someone in crisis and can save lives. A training session is scheduled for 5:30-7:30 p.m. Jan. 24 at the Healthy365 Connection Center meeting room, 120 W. McKenzie Road, Suite G, Greenfield. Learn more and register at behealthy365.org/qpr-registration.

Tri Kappa scholarships available

GREENFIELD – Tri Kappa, a local service sorority, is seeking applicants for state scholarships to be awarded for the 2023-24 school year.

The student must be a college sophomore, junior or senior in an accredited baccalaureate or graduate program to apply. A student with interrupted studies of at least five years but enrolled for 2023-24 may also apply. Past recipients may also request an application.

There are three different scholarships available: an academic scholarship; a fine arts scholarship for those majoring in dance, drama, music or art; and a scholarship for those wishing to teach music.

Current college students can request an application by emailing Heather Seib at [email protected]. The application must be completed and returned by Jan. 31, 2023.

HCPL offers programs in February

GREENFIELD – The Hancock County Public Library is offering several programs in February for all ages.

The Hedgehog Hannah family animal program will be at both the central branch and the Sugar Creek branch Feb. 4.

An adult Valentine paper quilling class will be at the Sugar Creek branch Feb. 7, while a beginner watercolor class will be at the main branch Feb. 23. Adults can also attend a book discussion Feb. 14 or a Writers Helping Writers session Feb. 16.

All ages can enjoy the Phelps Connection Jazz Concert Feb. 21 at the main branch.

The HCPL also offers several storytimes, crafts and family game events throughout the month. For a full list and registration, visit hcplibrary.org.

The Landing to host teen program open house

GREENFIELD – The Landing in Greenfield will host a Discovery Cafe Open House at 5:30 p.m. Feb. 6.

Discovery Cafe is a place for people ages 12-17 who may be facing mental health, substance abuse or other life issues to “be real and to find a belonging”

The event will allow people to tour the space, meet staff and students, hear information about the program and more. Reservations are required for a head count on dinner items.
