MV seeks staff appreciation cards from community

FORTVILLE – Mt. Vernon Community School Corporation is encouraging community members to send a “Because of You” card to share kind messages with bus drivers, teachers, cafeteria workers, custodians, assistants and more.

People may fill out a postcard for free at mvcsc.k12.in.us, click on “Community” and “Staff Appreciation Cards.” The card will be printed and delivered to the staff members each month. People may fill out as many staff appreciation cards as they like.

Willis named to dean’s list

SHIRLEY – Ashton Willis of Shirley was named to the South Plains College dean’s list for the fall 2022 semester.

To qualify, students must earn a grade point average of at least 3.25 while completing a minimum of 12 credit hours. South Plains College is located in Levelland, Texas.

PTO to host Bingo fundraiser

FORTVILLE – McCordsville Elementary School presents “Adult Night Out: Purse Bingo” from 6:30-9:30 p.m. Jan. 20.

Doors open at 6 p.m. and there will be a catered dinner by Verde, followed by games. The event, at the Mt. Vernon Administration Building, 1806 W. Ind. 234, Fortville, is for people ages 18 and older. Tickets are $40 per person, with a maximum of 130 people attending. Payment is due at registration. Parent University coming to MV Jan. 19

FORTVILLE – The annual Parent University is set for Jan. 19, featuring a keynote panel on bullying and several session choices from early literacy to adversity to “new math.”

The free event, hosted by the Mt. Vernon Education Foundation, is 5-9 p.m. in the Mt. Vernon Administration Building. It is sponsored by the Community Foundation of Hancock County.

G-C teachers, staff may be honored through STAR program

GREENFIELD – Parents and community members can honor Greenfield-Central teachers and staff through the STAR Power program with the Greenfield Central School Foundation.

The program, available online and through the mail, allows people to thank teachers, principals, coaches, librarians, bus drivers or cafeteria workers. Visit gcschoolfoundation.com/star-power to find a form to name a person, write an optional note, and contribute a minimum of $10. Each honoree will receive a personalized card listing the donor’s name and special sentiments. All proceeds provide additional resources for G-C teachers, classrooms and students. Forms may be downloaded and mailed in, with a check payable to Greenfield Central School Foundation, 110 W. North St., Greenfield. Donations to the foundation can also be made at gcschoolfoundation.com/donate.
