Purdue to host wellness book club

GREENFIELD – A local Wellness Book Club is coming up each Wednesday, Jan. 18-March 8.

The club, facilitated by Purdue Extension Hancock County, will feature the book “Why Has Nobody Told Me This Before?” by Dr. Julie Smith. The club will be from noon to 1 p.m. each Wednesday and the group will discuss one chapter of the book each week. To register, visit bit.ly/wellnessbc.

McCordsville area to host blood drives

MCCORDSVILLE – Two blood drives are coming up in the McCordsville/Fortville area, at a time when Versiti Blood Center of Indiana is issuing an emergency appeal for blood donations.

McCordsville United Methodist Church’s community blood drive is 2-6:30 p.m. Jan. 19 at 6247 W. Broadway St., McCordsville. Vernon Township Fire Department will also host a community blood drive 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Feb. 4. A Bloodmobile will be on site at 600 Vitality Drive, Fortville.

Shrine Club to host monthly meeting

GREENFIELD – The January meeting and meal for the Hancock County Shrine Club will be at 6:30 p.m. Jan. 24 at the Fraternal Order of Police, 400 E. Davis Road, Greenfield. Reading dogs coming to county libraries

GREENFIELD – Bentley’s Buddies and Friends will be at both locations of the Hancock County Public Library Sunday, Jan. 22.

The organization that helps students improve literacy through certified reading dogs in a relaxing environment will be in the children’s rooms of the Greenfield and New Palestine libraries at 1:30 p.m. Jan. 22. There is no need to sign up. The Greenfield library is located at 900 W. McKenzie Road, Greenfield; the Sugar Creek branch is at 5731 W. U.S. 52, New Palestine.
