GREENFIELD
Alvin Lee Smith, age 72, of Greenfield, passed away Thursday, January 12, 2023 at his home. He was born in Indianapolis on May 2, 1950 to Raymond Smith and Eunice “Penny” (Snyder) Smith. Alvin went to Greenfield High School and was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps. On April 30, 2005, he married Rebecca (Simmons) in Bedford.
Following his time in the Marines, he spent his career working as a welder for Amtrak. Alvin enjoyed gardening and loved to be with his family.
Alvin is survived by his loving wife, Becky Smith; son, Bryan Reuter (Noel); daughter, Kelli Edwards (Chuck); grandchildren, Kamryn Smith, Gabe Smith, Ross Smith, Greyson Edwards and Everly Reuter; sister, Debi “Sissy” Bewley (Tom); sister-in-law, Judy Pittman (Jim); nephews, Caleb Bewley, Paul Pittman, Greg Pittman; niece, Gail Mitchell; and his beloved dog, Rose Lee Smith. He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Penny; and his sons, Lee and Justin Smith.
Visitation and funeral service will be held on Tuesday, January 17, 2023, from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at Park Chapel Christian Church, 1176 E McKenzie Rd, Greenfield, IN 46140. The funeral service will begin at noon, with Pastor David Woods officiating. Arrangements are being handled by Erlewein Mortuary &Crematory in Greenfield.
