Farewell 2022.
On the courts, fields, mats and courses, Hancock County sports — to steal the intro from the old ABC show Wide World of Sports — had plenty thrills of victories and agonies of defeats.
The lens of Greenfield Daily Reporter staff photographer Tom Russo captured the action from sectional celebrations to sectional sorrow, regional and rivalry wins, so many emotions from our local participants.
The faces of our athletes and coaches tell the story, whether it be a long tournament run from the Eastern Hancock boys basketball team, another sectional title for Mt. Vernon tennis, a rivalry win for New Palestine girls soccer, or the agony of having a season come to an abrupt end.
(As you can see, too, Russo’s great photography wasn’t always isolated to our Hancock County stars.)
