Theatrical event to portray historical businesswoman

GREENFIELD – Experience the story, journey and road to success of Madam C.J. Walker in an upcoming event at the Hancock County Public Library.

Soulful Journeys of Women’s Tracey Wynn and Donnice Robinson will transform into Walker and her sales associate to present a first-person theatrical account of Walker’s life in an event geared for adults. Madam C.J. Walker was a businesswoman and philanthropist who was one of the first black female millionaires in the United States. She built an international beauty business that had 25,000 active sales agents by 1919.

The free event is at 6:30 p.m. Dec. 15 at the main branch of the HCPL, 900 W. McKenzie Road, Greenfield. Seats can be reserved at hcplibrary.org.

DR seeks pet photos

GREENFIELD – The Daily Reporter is seeking photos of local pets in the community. Cats, dogs, farm friends and more will be highlighted in a page featuring news and health information about animals. To share a photo, email [email protected] with “Pet page” in the subject line. Include your name, your pet’s name, and a brief description of your pet and why he or she is a special member of the family.

Art gallery accepting donations for soup kitchen

GREENFIELD – The Twenty North Gallery is a collection point for the Kenneth Butler Memorial Soup Kitchen this month.

The gallery, at 20 N. State St., is open 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesdays and Thursdays, and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturdays. The gallery is featuring photography and Christmas exhibits this month as well.
