McCORDSVILLE — The fatality firefighters discovered when responding to a house fire Wednesday night has been identified as Susan Spangler, 68, the McCordsville Police Department reported.
Police and the Vernon Township Fire Department were dispatched to the fire in the 9300 block of North Bayhill Circle in the Bay Creek subdivision at about 9 p.m. Wednesday. Fire personnel located Spangler, the homeowner, deceased in the house.
Vernon Township Fire Chief Mark Elder said an autopsy on the victim will be conducted. A fire was in the house upon firefighters’ arrival, he said, adding firefighters knocked the blaze down pretty quickly.
The investigation into the fire continues and includes the Indiana State Fire Marshal’s Office, Vernon Township Fire Department, Hancock County Coroner’s Office and the McCordsville Police Department.
