NEW PALESTINE — The management of the new Taco Bell in New Palestine held an opening ceremony Tuesday morning, complete with a ribbon cutting ceremony. Town Council President, Bill Niemier and Town Manager, Jim Robinson attended the official kick-off along with members of the New Palestine High School band who played a celebratory tune during the official ribbon cutting.

Officials who own the land at the corner of U.S. 52 and Mt. Comfort Road announced plans earlier in April that Taco Bell, complete with a drive through, would build an establishment at the corner as soon as plans were finalized.

Tharp Realty, a commercial brokerage arm of Tharp Investments Inc., owns the land just west of the Fifth Third Bank Branch, 5930 W U.S. 52, New Palestine. Officials there said they are leasing the land to Taco Bell who built an establishment.

Niemier, who is also a lawyer represents the Tharp company, and owner Don Tharp who said they had several businesses interested in the property, but Taco Bell was the first to submit a legitimate building plan.

“It’s a beautiful day for a ribbon cutting ceremony,” Niemier said.
