Rotary Club gives service award to Stylianou

GREENFIELD – The Rotary Club of Greenfield recently honored Costa Stylianou with the John Long Vocational Service Award.

Stylianou, owner of Costa’s Grill and the county’s Lincoln Square restaurants, was recognized for having a tremendous impact on individuals and the community at large, being generous with his time, talents and treasure. He has helped many individuals and organizations, according to the club. The Rotary Club itself has benefited from his generosity: when the club lost its meeting space due to the closure of the Ponderosa restaurant, Stylianou offered up Costa’s Grill for their use, bringing in staff and service during off-hours.

Stylianou was nominated for the award by Grant Ford and Brad Herndon; Mayor Chuck Fewell was at the event to present him the award. The John Long Vocational SErvice Award is honored annually to a non-Rotarian; its named after the late Dr. John A. Long, an optometrist and former Rotarian.

This is Stylianou’s second award in recent months: he was also recently recognized by the Greenfield Central School Foundation for outstanding leadership, volunteerism, character and service.
