Marauders give Lions first loss

Mt. Vernon won its third straight game and improved to 4-2 on the season with a 54-50 victory at Rushville Friday.

It was the first loss of the season for the Lions. They dropped to 3-1.

The Marauders are back in action a week from today, Nov. 26, with a 1:30 p.m. matchup against East Central, at Mt. Vernon.

Royals run MEC record to 3-0

Eastern Hancock remained unbeaten in Mid-Eastern Conference play with a 62-12 victory over host Cowan Thursday.

The Royals girls basketball team is 5-1 overall and 3-0 in the MEC.

Sammie Bolding hit four 3-pointers and led all scorers with 21 points. Emma Bolding had 10 points. Ruby White and Grace Stapleton had nine points apiece and Sydney Springman scored eight.

The Royals held Cowan (0-6, 0-2) to just two first quarter points. The Blackhawks had just two field goals for the game.

Eastern continues conference play Tuesday with a home game against Shenandoah.
