Healthy Community Awards nominations open

GREENFIELD – Nominations are open now for the Hancock Health Foundation’s annual Healthy Community Awards.

Each year the HHF recognizes a local organization and individual whose service efforts have created positive change in the health and wellness of local communities. The recipients will be notified and announced publicly before the end of the year.

The Bert Curry Health Community Award is named in honor of the foundation’s first executive director and recognizes an individual who has demonstrated a commitment to helping others and improving the health and wellness of the community. The Bobby Keen Healthy Community Award is named in honor of the former HR president and CEO, recognizing a hospital program or local organization.

Love INC hosts product drive

GREENFIELD – Love INC is hosting a product drive for one of its Household and Hygiene Outreach (H2O) Gap Ministries. Churches, small groups or businesses looking for a service project might consider the drive that lasts through the end of November.

Items needed include deodorant, shampoo and conditioner for men, bandages, all-purpose cleaner, laundry detergent, glass cleaner, furniture polish, dish detergent, toilet paper, paper towels, tall kitchen trash bags, zip baggies of all sizes, foil and plastic wrap.

Drop-off locations are St. James Lutheran Church, 1741 S. State St., Greenfield, open weekdays 9 a.m.- 1 p.m.; and Love INC, 630 N. State St., open weekdays 9 a.m.-4 p.m.

Greenfield leaf pickup continues this month

GREENFIELD – Leaf pick-up for the city of Greenfield continues this month and through early December.

Leaves must be raked to a curbside. Bagged leaves must also be placed at the curbside and will be picked up within two working days after calling the Greenfield Street Department, 317-477-4380.

Greenfield city residents on the east side of Ind. 9 will have leaf pickup Nov. 14-18 and Nov. 28-Dec. 2.

Residents on the west side of Ind. 9 will have leaves picked up Nov. 21-25; and Dec. 5-9.

Leaves should be at the curb by 8 a.m. the Monday of the scheduled week to ensure pickup. The schedule is subject to change due to weather and availability of machinery and crews.
