Abigail Jessup has been hired as a deputy prosecutor.

HANCOCK COUNTY — Prosecutor Brent Eaton didn’t have to look very far to hire the newest member of his deputy prosecutor staff.

The Hancock County Prosecutor’s office recently announced the addition of Abigail Jessup to the team as a full-time deputy prosecutor. Jessup has been with the Hancock County Prosecutor’s office as a certified legal intern since January of 2021, officials said.

Jessup earned her bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice from Indiana University Bloomington, graduating summa cum laude in 2019. She obtained her juris doctorate from the Robert H. McKinney School of Law in Indianapolis where she graduated magna cum laude.

Jessup is already making an impact in the office. She is the vice-chair of the Hancock County Sexual Assault Response Team and is particularly passionate about her service in that capacity, officials from the prosecutor’s office said.

While originally from Knightstown, she and her husband have resided in Greenfield for the past four years and enjoy being involved in the local community.

Outside of the office she enjoys spending time with family, including her two dogs, traveling and cooking. Jessup says she is looking forward to advocating for her community in this new capacity to help keep Hancock County safe and support those who need it most.

Officials from the office stated they’re delighted Jessup has officially joined the staff. Eaton noted she will work primarily out of Hancock County Superior Court 2 for now.
