FUSE seeks volunteers

GREENFIELD – Families United for Support and Encouragement is looking for volunteers.

Volunteers are needed to create awareness for the organization that helps families with disabilities, as well as be a part of fundraisers; volunteer for programs; donate or collect auction items; and for the board of directors. To learn more, call 317-462-9064.

Blingo fundraiser coming up

GREENFIELD – Tri Kappa’s annual “Blingo” designer purse Bingo fundraiser is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Nov. 16 at the Hancock County Fairgrounds. Doors open at 5:30 p.m.

Tickets are $40 for 10 games; there are also extra game packages available and raffles. Cash or check only; participants must be at least 21 to play. A light dinner will be provided. Tickets are available at Cynthia’s Hallmark or any Tri Kappa member; tickets are also available at the door.

New Pal light tour coming up

NEW PALESTINE – New Palestine businesses and homes with Christmas lights are invited to join the fourth annual Bob Kingry Light the Night Tour of Lights.

The New Pal Chamber of Commerce and New Palestine Main Street are sponsoring tour, which will include a map of participants Dec. 10. Registration is required by Dec. 5. To learn more, email [email protected] or call 317-861-2345.

Local schools to host spell bowls

HANCOCK COUNTY – Local students will be among the roughly 6,000 students around the state participating in the 29th annual Elementary Spell Bowl competition this Monday, Nov. 14.

Students in grades 4, 5 and 6 will compete in the team event, where each round consists of one team member writing the correct spelling of seven words while competing against one team member from each other school. In Hancock County, spell bowl sites are open to the public with the competition starting at 5:30 p.m. at Greenfield Intermediate School, Eastern Hancock Elementary School, Maxwell Intermediate School, New Palestine Elementary School and New Palestine Intermediate School.
