Children’s play coming downtown next week

GREENFIELD – KidsPlay, Inc. children’s theater will present its fall production of “Supercomics” at 7 p.m. Nov. 4 and 5 and at 2 p.m. Nov. 6.

The comedy features the town of Comedyville, home to the Laugh Riot Comedy Club. On the eve of a comedy festival, the Evil Genius Vlad the Exhaler arrives and sprays the town with a gas that steals everyone’s sense of humor. A group of stand-up comedians decide to become superheroes to combat Vlad and restore Comedyville to its usual jolly self.

The all-ages show will be at the H.J. Ricks Centre for the Arts, 122 W. Main St., Greenfield. Tickets are $5 at Hometown Comics 1040 N. State St., Greenfield, or at the box office an hour before showtime.

Children’s programs set at libraries

HANCOCK COUNTY – Local libraries are hosting several events for children and teens coming up the first two weeks in November.

Children ages 8-10 are welcome to join the Reading Dragons Book Club at 6 p.m. Nov. 1 at the Sugar Creek branch of the Hancock County Public Library in New Palestine. A family storytime will also be at the Sugar Creek branch, at 10:30 a.m. Nov. 2.

The main Greenfield site of the HCPL will host a “Craft Gifts from Nature” program for children in kindergarten through fifth grade, at 3:30 p.m. Nov. 7. Children and tweens are welcome to join the National Doughnut Day Celebration at 3:30 p.m. Nov. 9 at the main branch. For HCPL programs, learn more or register at hcplibrary.org.

All ages are welcome to join the Play and Learn Storytime, at 10:30 a.m. each Wednesday at the Fortville-Vernon Township Public Library.

Holiday gift workshop scheduled

MCCORDSVILLE – Take a holiday workshop called “Gifts from the Kitchen” at 6 p.m. Nov. 9.

The event is at McCordsville Hancock Wellness Center, 8505 N. Clearview Drive. Pam Cooley of Culinary Adventures with Pam will introduce recipes, kitchen crafts, demonstrations, kitchen hacks, shopping tips and more. The event is sponsored by the Fortville-VernonTownship PUblic LIbrary. Registration is required at fvtpl.org.
