Cougars win Twin Lakes Invite

Greenfield-Central’s Mya Grigsby, shown here during an earlier contest against New Palestine, had 39 kills in three matches to lead the Cougars to victory at the Twin Lakes Invitational.

With victories over Twin Lakes, Western and Rochester, Greenfield-Central’s volleyball team won the Twin Lakes Invitational Saturday.

The Cougars (13-16) won each match 2-0.

In the championship match against Rochester, G-C won by set scores of 25-4, 25-12.

Mya Grigsby led the attack with 10 kills. Rilee Roland had seven digs and Makenna Rankins had 30 assists.

Against Western, the Cougars won by scores of 25-12, 25-20. Grigsby had 15 kills. Finnley Greene had five digs and Rankins contributed 28 assists.

In the win over Twin Lakes, G-C won 25-14, 26-24.

Grigsby had 14 kills. Roland had six digs and Rankins dished out 29 assists.

Greenfield-Central begins postseason play today with a 6 p.m. match against New Palestine at the Yorktown Sectional.

New Pal wins at Pike

New Palestine’s volleyball team defeated Ben Davis and the host school to win the Pike Invitational Saturday.

The Dragons (25-4) downed the Giants 3-0 by set scores of 25-7, 25-15, 25-14. In the final against Pike, they won 3-1 by scores of 20-25, 25-22, 25-22, 25-18.

New Palestine opens play in the Yorktown Sectional today against Greenfield-Central.
