Mt. Vernon improved to 11-15 on the season with a 3-0 victory over visiting Shenandoah Monday.

The Marauders won by set scores of 25-16, 25-19, 25-12.

Abby Herman led the attack with nine kills. Ava Whitmore and Sophia Damer each had six.

Mt. Vernon had 14 service aces, led by Herman with four. Libby Gee-Weiler and Whitmore each had three.

Herman led in digs with 18. Whitmore had 22 assists.

Mt. Vernon hosts New Palestine Thursday.

Dragons fall to 21-4

New Palestine’s volleyball team was defeated 3-0 by Noblesville (20-5) at home Monday.

The Dragons are 21-4 on the season. They lost by set scores of 25-20, 25-11, 25-16.

Reagan Kleiman had 13 kills and five digs. Lauren Wilson had a double-double with 10 kills and 11 digs. Setter Isabella Gizzi had 30 assists and seven digs.

Azure Flagle added 11 digs. Honour Mallory recorded six digs.

New Palestine was scheduled to play host to Shelbyville Tuesday and travel to Mt. Vernon Thursday.

Royals drop match to Triton

In the first of two meetings, Eastern Hancock’s volleyball team lost 3-0, at home Monday, to Triton Central.

The Royals dropped to 16-13 on the season. They lost by set scores of 25-22, 25-17, 25-19.

Triton Central improved to 17-7.

The teams are scheduled to open sectional tournament play against each other next week.

Before postseason play, Eastern Hancock was scheduled to play host to rival Knightstown Tuesday.
