Final community shred day coming up

GREENFIELD – Greenfield Banking Company will have its final community shred event Oct. 1.

Free, on-site shredding will be 9 a.m. to noon Oct. 1 at the main office in Greenfield.

The service is for paper documents only and people are asked to limit documents to a maximum of three tall kitchen trash bags (13 gallon size). Services are provided by Stericycle Shred-it; participants must remove documents from their own vehicles to hand to an attendant at a shred truck.

Spelling bee registration open

GREENFIELD – Registrations and sponsorships are open now for the annual Hancock County LINK Spelling Bee.

The event is 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 18 at the Hancock County Public Library, 900 W. McKenzie Road. A spelling team of four people is $100, and several other sponsorship opportunities are available. The registration deadline is Oct. 3.

Miller inducted into DAR

KNIGHTSTOWN – Mary Miller was inducted as a new member of the Daughters of the American Revolution Major Hugh Dinwiddie Chapter Sept. 3. Miller was inducted by unanimous vote. The group’s next meeting is 1 p.m. Oct. 1 at Knightstown Friends Church.
