Royals win third straight match

Eastern Hancock (6-8, 3-1) won its third consecutive Mid-Eastern Conference volleyball match with a 3-0 victory at Union Tuesday.

The Royals won by set scores of 25-18, 25-11, 25-8.

Eastern Hancock was scheduled to play another conference match Wednesday, hosting conference leader Wapahani (11-3, 2-0). The Royals compete in the Indiana Deaf School Invitational Saturday.

Cougars sweep Blackhawks

Greenfield-Central (5-7) won on the road, 3-0, at Cowan Tuesday.

The Cougars won by set scores of 25-23, 25-17, 25-13.

G-C had a balanced attack with Harper Holden leading with 10 kills. Rilee Roland had nine and Emma Berty recorded eight.

Holden added three blocks. Finnley Greene had 10 digs. Setter Makenna Rankins had 33 assists.

The Cougars play host to New Castle today.

Marauders lose at Brebeuf

Mt. Vernon (4-9) lost 3-0 at Brebeuf (11-2) Tuesday.

Set scores were 25-23, 25-14, 25-13.

Setter Ava Whitmore had a double-double with 18 assists and 10 digs.

Libby Gee-Weiler had 12 digs. Freshman Sierra Holverson led the attack with six kills.

The Marauders play host to Yorktown today.

Dragons get first HHC win

New Palestine (5-3, 1-2) scored four second-half goals to seal a 6-1 victory over visiting New Castle Tuesday.

It was the Dragons first Hoosier Heritage Conference win this season.

New Palestine got two goals each from Cody Crawmer and Elliott Canova. Alex Richwine and Brendan Tanksley also had goals.

Cole Christopher had two assists. Cohen Wintin, Canova and Tanksley also contributed assists.

The Dragons travel to Shelbyville Thursday for another league game.

Girls golf

Mt. Vernon places second

Mt. Vernon shot a 192 on its home course, Arrowhead Golf Course, and finished second of three teams in a meet held Tuesday.

The Marauders were led by Izzy VanHeel with a 41.

Guerin Catholic won with a 158. Hamilton Heights shot 201.

Mt. Vernon was scheduled to play at Delta Wednesday and have Yorktown and Lapel on the schedule today at Arrowhead. The Hoosier Heritage Conference Meet is Saturday at Albany Golf Club.

Dragons defeated at Prairie View

New Palestine’s girls golf team shot a 206 at Prairie View Golf Course in Carmel and lost to Hamilton Southeastern and Westfield, Tuesday.

Hamilton Southeastern won with a 157. Westfield finished with a 164.

Katie Kelley had New Palestine’s low round with a 48. Zoe Nelson shot 49. Lauren Appleby followed with a 54. Hannah Beller finished with a 55. Other participants from the Dragons team included Katie Stanfield (61) and Lily Kirchner (62).

The Dragons were scheduled to play Richmond at Hawk’s Tail of Greenfield on Wednesday. Shelbyville will be their opponent today, also at Hawk’s Tail. The Hoosier Heritage Conference Meet is Saturday at Albany Golf Club.
