More than 200 descendants of the Schwier family gathered Aug. 13 in New Palestine.

The 76th Schwier Family Reunion Aug. 13 drew 217 family descendents from age 2 months to 91. The event was at Sugar Creek Silos; those in attendance were the descendants of the 10 children of Frederich Wilhelm and Christine Marie Lenore (Rosener) Schwier, whose farm was located at the northwest corner of county roads 300 South and 700 West, New Palestine. Cousins came from as far away as San Francisco, California and Saskatchewan, Canada. The day included prayers, a pitch-in dinner, family history presentation, guessing games, raffle drawings and ice cream.
