HANCOCK COUNTY — Community Organization Active in Disaster is sharing news to continue helping the Kentucky flood victims, who they say need help immediately. There are 13 counties total and five counties in particular that need help and are asking for specific emergency items.

The list of items comes directly from the Directors of Emergency Management in each of the affected counties.

Officials in Hancock County have set up 18 different drop-off locations with the help of Greenfield Fire Territory Chief Brian Lott, who helped get 13 of the locations at the firehouses across Hancock County. If people take donations to the fire stations and don’t see a drop off marked, they can set items in the entrance area of the station officials said.

They also need boxes, which can be dropped off at the Joe McCain building on the grounds of the 4-H fairgrounds, where doors will be open for 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Those who live outside of Hancock County may call Jim Snellenberger of Madness Communication LLC at 463-233-4500.

When people are making donations they are asked to not send any clothes.

The list of items need includes water, non-perishable food and snacks; cleaning supplies such as buckets, mops, bleach, sponges, rubber gloves, industrial trash bags and box fans to dry floors and rooms; toiletries and personal hygiene items such as baby bottles, formula, pacifiers, diapers, rash cream, wipes, adult diapers, pet food, Tylenol, ibuprofen and first aid kits.
