Canova, Wintin lead Dragons to 8-0 win

Elliott Canova scored four goals and Cohen Wintin tallied three to lead New Palestine’s boys soccer team to an 8-0 victory at Mooresville Tuesday.

It was the Dragons first contest of the season.

Lennon Pottle had the other New Pal goal.

Brendan Tanksley and Paxton Holmes were credited with two assists each. Cole Christopher and Eli Martin each had assists.

Goalkeeper Blake Bobrow had two saves.

Cougars battle to scoreless tie

With a defense led by sophomore goalkeeper Jordin Jones, Greenfield-Central (1-0-1) battled to a scoreless tie with visiting Ben Davis Tuesday.

Jones had 17 saves.

Marauders fall to Red Devils

Mt. Vernon fell to 0-2 on the season with a 1-0 loss at Richmond on Tuesday.

Goalkeeper Bryce Glazier had seven saves.

Girls soccer

Dragons open with win

New Palestine scored four second-half goals to defeat host Pike 5-1 on Tuesday.

It was New Pal’s first contest of the season.

Sophomore Tylar Whitaker had three goals. Nevaeh Gebhart and Rylee Hurst each scored one.

Anna Luker, Izzie Myers, Bethany Blachly and Allie Blum all had one assist.

Goalkeepers Jaeda Jeffries and Grace Hasenkamp had one save apiece.

Girls golf

Marauders second at Shelbyville

In a triangular match at Shelbyville Tuesday, Mt. Vernon’s girls golf team placed second with a score of 206.

Rushville won the event with a 199. Shelbyville was third at 238.

Sophomore Izzy VanHeel was the low Mt. Vernon golfer with a nine-hole round of 44.

New Pal suffers first loss

New Palestine’s boys tennis team dropped to 1-1 on the season with a 5-0 loss at Whiteland.

Royals match called off

Eastern Hancock’s road tennis match with Southwestern, scheduled for Tuesday, was cancelled.
