GREENFIELD
Delmore P. Jones, age 83, of Greenfield, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, Tuesday, August 9, 2022 at his home. Born on July 3, 1939, in Muses Mills, Kentucky, he was the son of Della (Wyatt) and Hiram P. Jones. Delmore married Mary (Walker) on March 26, 1960 in Knightstown.
Before retiring in 2000, he worked as a Diesel Technician at Cummins for 38 years. After retiring, Delmore owned and operated D.J. Service Specialties for 10 years. He was a member at Mt. Lebanon United Methodist Church and in his free time, he enjoyed gardening, hunting and riding motorcycles. Delmore also loved fishing, camping and boating on the Ohio River, but most of all loved spending time with his family.
Delmore is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Mary Jones of Greenfield; children, Dwayne Jones of Greenfield, Julie Grodey (Jeff) of Charlottesville, Teresa Cowan of Greenfield, and Pastor Todd Jones (Kim) of Lead, South Dakota; grandchildren, Amber, Deric, Tyson, Megan, Casey, Hannah, Nathaneal and Felicity; great-grandchildren, Tara and River; siblings, Billy Jones of Pendleton, James Jones of Knightstown; sister-in-law, Lillian Jones of Cincinnati; and his beloved cat, Oreo. He was preceded in death by his parents; and siblings, Homer, Forest, and Winford Jones, Arlene Brown, Francis Pitts, and Vonda Gross; and son-in-law, Dennis Cowan.
Visitation will be held on Monday, August 15, 2022, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Erlewein Mortuary &Crematory, 1484 W. US Hwy. 40, Greenfield, IN 46140. A funeral service will be held at the mortuary on Tuesday, August 16, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. Pastor Steve Brackney will be officiating. Burial will follow at Park Cemetery in Greenfield.
