Festivalgoers mill among the games at the first St. Thomas Festival in 1983. The parish’s 40th annual festival kicks off today (Aug. 5) with a 21-and-older bingo night at 7 p.m. at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, 523 S. Merrill St., Fortville. The festival continues from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday with activities for all ages: a homemade chicken noodle dinner, homemade dessert corner, children’s games, live music, a blood drive, farmers market and silent auction. Also planned are raffles for cash prizes and a quilt made by women of the church. Refreshments will be available for purchase, including lemon shakeups and ice cream.
