GREENFIELD – Officials from the Greenfield-Fire-Territory were called to a late afternoon fire at the Hitachi-Keihin building, 400 W. New Road around 5 p.m. Wednesday afternoon with reports of a structure fire.

Public information officer for the GFT, Corey Breese said the fire was put out quickly by the first couple of crews on the scene and was not a threat to the building or any people. Breese noted it was a small machine fire and no one was hurt.

“The fire just smoked up the building,” Breese said. “The fire was put out rapidly.”

The building was not evacuated however people in the area where the fire was located were asked to leave due to the smoke. All responding units from other agencies were told to disregard the run and the GFT handled everything with two engines and a ladder,  Breese said.
