Here’s a look at what’s coming up at local libraries in Hancock County.

Friends of the Library to host sale

GREENFIELD – Shop the Friends of the Library book sale and support programs and events at the Hancock County Public Library.

Public sale hours are 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. May 13, 9 a.m to 4:30 p.m. May 14, 1-3:30 p.m. May 15 and Bargain Bag Day 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. May 16.

A Members Only preview sale, which gives Friends members first choice of the books, DVDs, CDs and video games available, is set for 6-7:30 p.m. May 12.

Most materials in the sale are $1 or less. Proceeds help fund concerts, children’s performers and special projects at the library. The sale is in at the main branch, 900 W. McKenzie Road, Greenfield.

Book clubs for adults scheduled

GREENFIELD – Libraries in Hancock County are hosting book clubs and programs for adults in May.

“The Plot” by Jean Hanff Korelitz will be discussed at 7 p.m. May 5 at the Fortville-Vernon Township Public Library, 625 E. Broadway St., Fortville. Visit www.fvtpl.org for more.

Sandy Miller will lead a discussion of Etaf Rum’s novel “A Woman is No Man” in a Brown Bag Book Discussion at 10 a.m. May 10 at the main branch of the Hancock County Public Library, 900 W. McKenzie Road, Greenfield. A Bring Your Own Book Club is set for 6:30 p.m. May 24. Visit www.facebook.com/groups/byobookclub for details.

The main branch of the library will also host the Writers Helping Writers workshop at 6 p.m. May 18.

Encanto Fiesta set in Fortville

FORTVILLE – Mark your calendar for a magical Madrigal party featuring songs and crafts from the Disney movie “Encanto.” The Fortville-Vernon Township Public Library will host an Encanto Fiesta 2-4 p.m. Saturday, May 14 at the Fortville Community Center, 400 W. Church St., Fortville. Join in for Encanto-inspired crafts, songs, dancing and feats of strength – but don’t talk about Bruno! All ages are welcome; no registration required. Art, activities lined up for children

GREENFIELD – Several free programs are lined up for children and teens in May at the Hancock County Public library.

The main branch, 900 W. McKenzie Road, Greenfield, will host a Bugs and Butterflies craft at 5 p.m. May 10. A Lego free build event will be held at 3:30 p.m. May 18. A Seek and Find Mystery event is set for 3:30 p.m. May 23. Teen Rock Painting is set for 3:45 p.m. May 19, while Teens Throw Things is scheduled for 3:45 p.m. May 24.

The Sugar Creek branch will also host several programs. Minecraft Selfies will be created at 2 and 5 p.m. May 12. A teen/tween painting party will be at 4 p.m. May 17.
